Summary:
In 2023, the Youth Power Hub conducted a comprehensive assessment of youth-led social accountability efforts across Africa, focusing on advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The study emphasized the powerful role youth-driven initiatives play in advocating for SRHR, highlighting both the significant impact they’ve had and the challenges they face. The assessment also identified key opportunities for enhancing the effectiveness of youth leadership and accountability mechanisms in SRHR. Based on the findings, a newly released policy brief outlines actionable recommendations to strengthen youth advocacy and create supportive systems for social accountability. These insights are set to provide a roadmap for empowering African youth and fostering meaningful change in SRHR policies and practices. A comprehensive study that will offer an in-depth analysis and strategies for improving youth-led advocacy across the continent was developed, too.
