Who we are

Y-ACT, Youth in Action, is a multi-country youth-led initiative established in 2017 at Amref Health Africa. What began as a platform created by young innovators determined to address issues affecting their generation has grown into a regional movement connecting youth advocates and youth-led organizations across more than 21 countries in Africa.

Y-ACT strengthens young people’s ability to influence policies, challenge harmful norms, and shape decisions that affect their health and well-being. Through mentorship, capacity strengthening, and coalition building, the movement supports youth advocates and youth-led organizations to participate meaningfully in policy conversations and advance priorities that reflect the realities young people face.

At the heart of Y-ACT is the belief that Africa’s youth have the power to transform their communities and influence the systems that shape their futures. When equipped with the right skills, platforms, and partnerships, young people can drive change, strengthen accountability, and contribute to healthier and more equitable societies.
